ONE time i had the the radio guy report me that he picked of RADIO (not radar! didnt even have a detector..) signals and the bearing to it. In the map it appeared as a task force and the contact came also from BDU. I had this once, go figure, x-files stuff.. :|\

I think in order to mod a movable radar you would need access to the SDK which wasn't released for who know what reason. Most games release their SDK after a game is released, sometimes before.

I thought Huff Duff/DF was implemented in the game. I notice it specially later in the war, when im tracking a convoy sending out contact reports, sooner or later a warship turns my way quick and starts firing...

The biggest perk to moving the radar mast to where it supposed to be (if it were even possible), is the radar not shutting off in fowl weather everytime a wave splashs the frontside of the conning tower.

3d modeling issue i beleive.

My educated guess is this:

Appendages to the uboat (perisopes, torpedo tubes, masts, antenna, etc) are individual prefabircated 3d models that must attach to a special "node" in order to work properly in the coding/mechanics of the game.

. (if you can get the exterior view to clip right, you can see right into a uboat model and see how all the tubes, periscopes, etc are individual modeled).

For example, the GEMA radar is attched to a node on the front of the conning tower. If attenas must attach to a node, then to get it to work properly on top of the conning tower would involve create a new node. For whatever reason ubi didn't do this and as a quick fix to get things working, put the mattress style radar mast on the same node the GEMA uses.

The same theory can be applied to all aerials. The model was done, but no node to attach them was created. So they just sit there.

Again, thats a guess.

Yep...thats the one I think.

Would be nice to have working masts.Wonder if it is possible to add the periscopes controls to the radar mast and such.

Looks like this may be a job for sergbuto to look into.He seems to be the wiz around here when it comes to breakthroughs with the ship models and stuff.
