GWX Crash on Win 10

Hi,

I have tried to run the GWX 3.0 Gold mod for SH3, but Campaign always crashes the sim.

I'm on Win 10, and tried several things to get it to work, but it either crashes in ntdll.dll, or MSCRTV7.dll.

Does anyone have any fixes or is this permanently broken? A bit surprised it won't run given how relatively new the mod is. I guess I need a VM running Win 7?

Many, many people have this combination running. Be very careful with the installation instructions. Set compatibility mode to windows 7 for the executables. Most importantly do not install under Program Files as Windows 10 and 11 security gets in the way. You need either the 4Gb patch or the HSie hard coded fixes for all supermods due to 32bit windows addressing limits. The 4Gb patch/HSie patch or the widescreen mods are where most people come unstuck.
If you have a display capable of supporting 1920x1080 then I suggest OneAlex (which is what you have with extra goodies) or GWX Knights Cross (which is the latest version of GWX from the original team) or Fifi's NYGM hardcore for a different spin.
All these mods now have all the files you need and just need unzipping somewhere outside Program Files, set compatibility mode to Windows 7 on the executables and go.

Can you share more about how to apply the 4GB patch or HSIE? I'm not sure where to start or if there are any specific instructions. And if I'm using the Steam install, are the steps different?
