Do not install the game in a Program Files folder. When you got the prompt for the install path, make your own folder, such as "C:\Games \Silent Hunter..." or whatever. Once you have the WotP installed, navigate into that game folder and use Ctrl-A combo to Select All files. Then right-click on one and choose Properties at the bottom of the page. On that frist General tab is a "Read-only" tick box. Make sure there is no tick mark there. Click on it to clear it, then click on OK, which brings up another dialog. On that, tell it "Apply changes to the selected items, subfolders and files", and OK that. Now bring the U-Boat missions file(s) in, and apply the update. One thing to note here, is that my U-Boat Missions files had a set number of applications, and then my email license no longer worked. I had to email Ubisoft support and get a new one. This was probably 5 or 6 years ago and it took over a week to get it. Someone else on here a couple of years ago had to wait over 2 weeks. I you are NOT in a Program Files folder, do not bother with all of that.

As for it not running, the game was originally intended for Windows XP 32-bit, and analog display screens. You have a 'modern' computer, and probably an LCD display. Windows 10 and the hardware need you to lead them through the process to run your game. So navigate into the game folder, and right-click on your SH4.exe again. Choose "Properties", and on the "Compatibility" tab, you will find the Compatibility settings. Some folks don't have to touch that, but others need to set it to one of the earlier Windows versions, such as XP SP2, or Win7. Also on that dialog is "Disable fullscreen options". Tick that box and OK it, and try running the game. Windows might 'helpfully' offer to run the Compatibility Troubleshooter. You can try that also, but for my computers, it is an exercise in frustration. There is one more thing to try on that Compatibility tab though. At the bottom is a "Change high DPI settings" button. Click that, and on the dialog it brings up, tick the "Override high DPI scaling behavior..." and set the drop-down box to "Application". Try to run the game again. Hopefully you are going after that... If not, then post back with a light set of your computer specs, such as CPU, amount of RAM, where the game is installed, and the video card you are using, along with the monitor and its native ("Recommended") resolution.

Sorry it's still not cooperating with you. Are you trying to run any mods? Navigate into "C:\Users \UserName \Documents \SH4" where UserName is your log-in name, and Documents might be My Documents. Delete the SH4 folder there, which the game will re-create the next time you start it. Maybe you have old data in there from previous runs that are not compatible with what you have now.

If you would, let us know your computer's CPU, such as Core i5. You can run System Info to find that. Also, the amount of RAM you have installed, as well as what video card, or on-board chipset you have, and the display monitor you have.
