game crashes when loading save game. help

Hello everybody, Im really sorry if this has been answered before, but i couldnt
seem to find any posts with the same problem, so here goes.

ive just installed SH5 via steam (version 1.2.0) on my windows 10 pc.
I have no other mods installed. I am able to login to the game and start
a new campaign. But if i save the game, and then try to load it again, the game crashes to desktop. This happends everytime i try to load a save game. Ive tried to start new campaings several times, and each time save the game, before i try to load it again..it allways crashes to desktop when loading.
I have also tried to reinstall the game, but nothing seems to help.

Does anyone have any idea what im doing wrong?

any and all help appricated.

Christ allmighty i'm sorry, but belive me i have it worse than you, i had to ask for a refund from Steam, the game loads, but no sound and hangs when the Kaleun is in his bed in the tutorial.

Horrible experience, i love this game.

I found and old iso of mine in and external hard drive, tried that no to avail.

Detection UI says my graphic driver is old, and i'm updated to the lastest.

Sorry i can't help you, hope you can solve it, and hope i can play it again.

Something happens with this game and modern systems.

A shame.

So let me say also, since my post asking for help does not appear on the forum.....HELP US! PLEASE!!

Are you using the normal/vanilla game. Or did you install any mods in the past times.
Its possible that some mods collide with each other and make the game crash.

Or your game directory files are a bit messed up.
Try to verify the game cache on Steam, it can help.

Its a bit sad that Ubisoft kinda ignored the game/problems... Silent Hunter 5 had so much potential.

I would verify the files for sure I can see one save being corrupt but not every time

I have an rtx and ui still says you need to update your graphic card..But you can still install the game......

I play for years SH5 with TWOS on different gaming pc's....with no big troubles at all....

For me SH5 with TWOS is still the best WO2 Subsim

Same issue, both with stock game and TWOS. Can save, but CTD when loading. So annoying.

Same, have played on and off since initial release. Just got a new PC and same as you CTD on load of a save no matter if stock or TWOS? Have tired both my original Amazon digital install and from Ubisoft. Same result followed all steps I could find in the numerous posts. No luck?

I have the same issue since reinstalling the game this past month. For years I've enjoyed the game with WoS mod. I have 2500 hours playing this game, but now it's unplayable as I cannot load a saved game.

I can start a career, and play for hours, but if I stop and save the game, I cannot reload the saved game, CTD every time.

I recently also encountered the same issue while re-playing SH5 on my new Win11 PC. Every time after loading a saved game, the PC would crash back to the desktop. Very weird, it only happened on my new machine. My old PC ran it just fine. Sad...

After some trial and error, I finally found a trick: before loading a career savegame, delete the \SH5\data\Users folder in your game save location (e.g., C:\Users\<YourUsername>\Documents\SH5\data\Users). Boom! You're in the game.

Whenever you load a save, this folder gets auto-generated again, so just remember to delete it next time. You don’t even have to quit the game. Just alt-tab out, delete the folder, alt-tab back in, and your save loads perfectly.

I got it working on the latest SH5 v1.2.0 + Wolves of Steel mod. No clue why this works—maybe some weird conflict with new hardware or Win11?
