Escaping Under Convoy After Attack (WoS IRAI)

I did some searching around the forum and have seen some people say that after an attack they go under the convoy and reload and attack again from the other side. Now from my experience so far in WoS is that after an attack and the torpedos hit the escorts know exactly where I am and beeline for me no matter what speed or depth I am at. With IRAI in the mega mod is this tactic still possible?
