how to attack Davao

hello,


I started my mission at Manilla, on a S-18...
then on December 20, 1941, I'm at Davao, 125.40 E, 7.N

there is about 20 ships, plus a strong screen of 2 destroyers + 4 aux subChaser

the defensive screen is at every 1500 m encircling the cargo and troop transports, 1 naga light cruiser

my torpedoes are mark 10, range 3500. 30Kt

to be in range of cargo (maxed) I would be about 1500 m of the aux subchaser.

oh, and it is 6am. calm sea. the mark 10, will look like arrows...

I had the idea of going under...
or to wait and attack when they get out of the bay.
or wait at night, I'll be CO2 since noon...

I cannot outrun them ( 13kt against 17 or 30+ for destroyers.)

the 2 destroyers are at the east.
maybe I could outflank them. to come from the north,
the I will be very far from the open sea.
( does 1 kt make same noise as 3kt.?)

any idea.

all of your ideas are what a captain contemplates.

choose one and execute it to the best of your ability.

if it was me, i would fire at as many ships as i could from as far out as my weapons will allow and then go deep and head to where i think they will head after the fish hit. but that's me.

The Mark 10's limit your tactics some. If I have M14's I will fire at the best target solution at about 8000 yards with a few aft torps, this gives me plenty of time to flank to a new position angle and work my way in, cuz enuf escorts will go looking in the direction my torps came from and leave a flank exposed for attack. You might could try it from about max distance to where you think an escort will see one torp and may at least give you enuf time to get to an angle you can work your way in. The goal is just simply to waste a torp to pull the escorts away, move to another position as torps travel and attack the unguarded flank. Course works better at night where you can do it on the surface.

ok, I tried twice... I know,
1) I tried to pass under the auxsubchaser, that was a quick bad idea. te elite class just pick me a a flower...

2) I tried the east workaround, at about 1 knot, silent running, then waited until 1 hours after sundown to surface, CO2, when up to 24%. I got in between old destroyers . Some ships seems damaged, and even sunk , but was not me. I shot 4, missed, ship goes in circle, ,. finally i got 1 auxsubchaser, by luck. Few explosion on different target but mark 10... have a weak punch.

Escape the pursuit by going under the cargos, and when to my new home Surabaya
