I fixed it I think by copying the backup copy into the uplay dir.

Hmmm... interesting solution... Ubisoft uses UConnect now, and not UPlay for the SH5 start-up. UConnect is not compatible with Windows 7... I might have to experiment with your technique on this Win7 machine...
