Vanilla graphics needed

Due to a succession of disasters with new laptops I'm running SH3 on a twelve year old i3 laptop. It runs Linux fine and I find SH3 is actually easier to get going under Linux/Wine than Windows 11.
The trouble is I have Intel integrated graphics and a 1366x768 display:

Vanilla SH3 runs fine at about 60fps with Widescreen MaGUI v3.4
Basic GWX or NYGM drops the framerate down to about 13fps in external view, which I can just about live with.
Fifi or Onealex are down to about 4fps, which is unplayable, and Onealex crashes after a few minutes.

Can anyone suggest a mod compilation that gives me all the NYGM or GWX gameplay improvements without any 3D eye candy?
