At some point last night, the blue-haired, muppet, Zuckerborg Stasi arrested GR for thought crimes against te meta.
![]() I'm not sure how to send witty videos to "GR" now, so we have "top minds" working on it. Top minds. So, here's a coded message for GR: -.. --- / -.-- --- ..- / .-- .- -. - / -.-. .... --- -.-. --- .-.. .- - . / --- .-. / ... .--. .- .-. -.- .-.. . / -.-. .- -.- . / ... . -. - / - --- / -.-- --- ..- / .. -. / -- . - .- / .--. .-. .. ... --- -. .-.-.-

Ol McBee
I have received 4 bans from Facebook this year. The “offenses” behind each of my brief imprisonments have all been quite petty I assure you. The icing on the proverbial cake came in the form of a simple comment on my wife’s post. She posted a picture of her son (my stepson) who most of us know was killed in a single vehicle car accident November 14th, 2019. I commented something along the lines that I had too been thinking of him in the days leading up to the anniversary of his car accident - (an accident which we all agree was he was at fault for) which lead to my follow up comment, “I’m still going to kick his ass tho! ” Within several minutes I received a 7 day ban for threatening another person with physical violence. I appealed the ban, and provided the context as outlined above. The “board” upheld the ban and stuck to their guns. I was angry. My wife was upset about the whole deal since it involved a post she made about her own deceased child and I resolved to just walk away as I was day one into a four day fly-in camping event an hour from home right in the middle of gathering a great deal of content for my business’ social media page. I deleted my account - which of course is a 30 day process. Problems with this became immediately apparent. Here’s what I discovered; 1. With my account in deletion mode, I was immediately unable to manage my flight school business account at all. The only way I could do this, was to have my wife, an admin in the page post content and updates that I emailed or texted to her. This created unique barriers and hurdles because she has her own “9-5 job”. we quickly switched gears to me accessing my business page through her account which was just cumbersome as I had to log in each time to do so. She is also page admin for two other businesses and it seemed unfair to shift 100% of the responsibility for my business page to her. 2. My Facebook business page accounts for probably 80% of my new business leads and is a huge source of customers contacting me about my services. as such it’s upkeep is important and deleting my account means negatively impacting my business by turning my back on my largest pool of new clients - strategically unwise 3. My wife has assisted me with my business in background roles, handling deposits, writing checks, mailing packages from UPS drop off points etc. however, by putting her into the position of having to interact with students and prospective students directly (through messenger especially) being that we are a flight school, certain legalities must occur. I would now be obliged to enroll her into an approved yearly transportation security administration flight school security awareness training course and retain her records to show compliance. she certainly has zero interest in doing this! 4. I learned that Facebook algorithms have a hair trigger and lack the ability to make any interpretation of intent, inflection, tone or have any way of seeing the context of our posts and as a result you can and will be banned for saying simple every day phrases which many of us jokingly say to one another on a daily basis in the real world. How many times have you told a friend something like; “man you set me up on a blind date with that girl?! It was horrible!!! I’m gonna kill you next time I see you! LOL” Facebook takes this literally and treats it as a legitimate threat, regardless of your intent. This is extremely frustrating and results in hair trigger bans. 5. The Facebook appeals process simply doesn’t work or it is an illusion altogether. I appealed my ban to the Facebook community standards board, I explained the context of my comment about my stepson, and that this was not a threat of actual violence against anyone but rather a playful expression of bereavement mentioned in banter between my wife and I. The board, whoever they are, upheld their decision that I violated terms of service and they upheld my 7 day ban with no further appeal. 6. Once you’re on their radar, the algorithm singles you out for closer monitoring for future violations, and will also scan your account for any past violations it may have missed, this means that everything you post on Facebook is put under the microscope, even things you posted three or four years ago could result in a violation today. If your post contains certain key words “kill you” - “kick your ass” - “you’re dead” - etc. the algorithm has been designed to look for these, now then you’re screwed. I was once banned, one year after the fact, because I made a post about the horrors and atrocities of the NAZIs and included a picture of (I think it was…) Himmler or Goebels one or the other I can’t recall which… I got a 3 day ban for hate speech. (Oddly enough “tranny” even if you are referring to the leaky, grinding transmission of your 2005 GMC Sierra, is now considered by the algorithm to be a derogatory term towards transgender people and will result in administrative action against your account. Don’t believe it? Just make a post using the word tranny, darn good chance you’ll be flagged) 7. Begrudgingly, I have come to terms with the fact that social media in the way the world connects today, especially for a small business owner, is an almost essential communicative outlet, much like telephone land line service and a yellow pages listing was in the pre-internet / pre-cellular age. The only difference is… back in 1988, if the telephone company didn’t like what you said during a phone call to your cousin, they didn’t disconnect your phone service and rip your ad out of the yellow pages for a week. In todays world, if Facebook dislikes something you said or posted, you’re dead to the online world with little or no recourse, they decide whether or not what you said is acceptable speech, and they’ll erase you for a length of time of their choosing. And that alone should be an eye opener for everyone. 8. Lastly… Based upon the account restriction hierarchy, a 7 day ban is the second to last ban restriction you can get. Next up comes the 30 day ban, followed by (supposedly) a permanent account removal. Some people would view this as a real wake up call. I on the other hand see that I have unlocked all but 2 Facebook achievements. So what this really means, is it’s not a matter of *if* I will get a 30 day ban from this piece of dog excrement of a platform… it’s a matter of *when* it will happen, and for what minor, insignificant spit on the sidewalk style of infraction will lead to a month in the cooler? We don’t know yet… but, if you know me, you know we’ll find out sooner or later! For the reasons, rationals and revelations outlined above - and yielding to cooler heads (my wife) I feel almost forced to stop the deletion process and - after my latest ban is lifted - I’ll keep my personal account activated as I see no way around it negatively impacting my growing business if I don’t. Believe me… I am absolutely fed up with Facebook. I find it to be divisive, depressing, and rarely uplifting. the only positive I’ve found is my ability to share memes and funny pics / videos with my friends… some of those friends live 1,500 miles away, some of them 5,000 miles. some of those memes and pictures ironically also result in my account being banned such as the picture I shared of a can of silly string next to a noose with the caption “serious string” that landed me a 3 day sentence which I received within about 10 seconds of posting. My crime? “Encouraging self harm”. I dunno, maybe it’s the years of trauma, exposure to military friends and family, and a nautical upbringing… but that picture is hilarious! It’s just off the rails over there on FB I checked in here at the forums by pure happenstance and noticed your post on blind luck, as I’m heavily preoccupied at the moment, and I probably won’t check back in often until Monday. I appreciate you looking in on me

Well, its Facebook et.al. Nothing else to expect.
Best is to never get engaged with any of them in the first. They accumulate too many powers and bring people into too far-reaching dependencies: psychologically (especially younger ones, but not only them), but also practically.

That's why I'm trying to learn how to create an internet forum. So my Danish friends has a place where they can discuss without getting into fb-prison or being banned. Markus

I had an account banned, because it didn’t meet their “standards”.
I don’t quite know what those standards were, as they wouldn’t tell me. I had no posts, no pictures, no friends, links or anything else. All I can put it down to is that I didn’t give them any info to harvest and sell off, so they shut it down. |
