I will leave SH3 pointers to someone else, since I am a rank amateur at it... but SH4 will use your Windows dialog to populate the game's video dialogs, whether 4:3 or 16:9. Whatever your monitor's "native" resolution is what you should set Windows to (it shows as "recommended)" in the dialog). Then, once in the game, use the Options choice on the main menu to go into the Graphic Options and match what you have in Windows inside the game. With your card, you can probably turn most things up to max, and see how things look. As for mods, I am partial to Fall of the Rising Sun Ultimate Edition, which is based on AOTD_MadMax's FOTRS mod, but there are mods from Webster's Game Fixes Only (GFO) to Ducimus's Trigger Maru Overhauled, and quite a few between, with FotRSU and Bubblehead1980's TMO Updated mods still with active teams and continuing development. There is nothing wrong with just doing the Stock game initially either, since Ubi almost got it right by the time they released the v1.5 update... If you have a Steam version of the game, you will need the U-Boat Missions Add-on from Steam to play most of the mods. If you have v1.4, give a shout, and we can point you at some mods for that, though the list is much much shorter.

Thank you.
I played SH4 when it first came out,and found it very good. I'll look into the mod to see how it works and probly go that route.

wolf_howl15 Re: Welcome back... ,0>

On the SH3 front, there is a couple of contenders...

1st up, is a couple of download, unzip & after unzipping them, drop in anywhere BUT... in either of Windows 'Program files' domains...

OneAlex did up a reimagining of GWX, & is active in tweaking it... & as needed does see to posting updates, patches flash messages informing users of his mod set up, of that.

Then there is ToyotaGT86's GWX imagined work... that follows on OneAlex's heels, that is also fairly straightforward in being easy to get set up & going as well.

These, 2... are the most to Me... simplest to unpack, set up & get rolling with & in... of the SH3 all there, mod sets.

In a fashion, just as with OneAlex & Toyo's work, aforementioned... is Anvar1061's... GWR also a reimaging of GWX, as well... but... is still not quite out of infancy, yet not a newborn babe, either.

That said, it does take a bit more work involved, in getting set up... but from what I've seen... it is spectacular & once the creators pretty well satisfied with it & decides ok, have it just how I want it... then will be the process of (just My thoughts here & just a suggestion to Anvar1061... ) of maybe seeing of packing it up into a 1 stop, 1 step installer... making it rather simple to install, then choose from a selection of add inz optional mods, that play & work well with the whole set up.

And now, on to this 1... last, but not least.

LSH3

This 1 is a bit more... interesting in how it gets set up. It has a preset-up installer... that does a look to see of locating your owned copy of SH3... 1st.

On finding a valid copy of SH3, then will ask you where you want to set things up... & to do this, without hiccup or issues... well.. that copy you have, has to match on folder name of 1 of... 3 permutations of that.
SilentHunter3(or was that SilentHunterIII ), SH3 or SHIII... if it doesn't, then it'll say no valid copy found & then... shut down.

Note... with this, it means setting up a complete standalone updated LSH3 mod setup... to ensure ease of set up of any additional optional mods that play well with, & as well... LSH3, itself... highly recommended... of avoiding the default install location offered up... in either of the 'Program file' locations.

This one, is also a pretty good choice to go with...

Of mention too, is the following but takes a bit more to get set up & once done... are also good options as well... in & of their own rights...

CCoM v12

A rework of LSH3 by a former member of the lSH3 team, on their ideas of how it should have gone... & just as good as LSH3 in its own right...

& then there is... NYGM...

This 1 is a bit more...intensive in set up, but... from what I've seen & read of, looks to be very interesting.

& finally... (that I know of... may have missed 1... or 2... am sure someone will chime in & point those out if I did miss some other mod set offerings beyond these I've outlined )

WAC v5x (War Ace Commander(? I think is what that works out to being...)

Any who... as you can see here that there are plenty of options to choose from, on the S3 front... & all are good, in their own right...

Hope that this info, helps...

gute jagd, ihr Himmelhunde.!
