Dear sh3 Kaleuns,
After a long break I picked up sh3 again. installed gwx + some extras. Currently on my 5th patrol, marz 1940, first time taking the type 7 around scotland again, feels good. I was doing my usual search pattern where I dive every 2 hours or so to listen for contacts. So I was left with a decision the other day when I wasn't due to dive for another hour, and then it came. The stutter. map freezes, the cook walks into the gramophone player. It's like the game coughing very loudly while throwing a bunch of ships on your lap. that is, 9/10 times the stutter indicates a convoy of some sorts being loaded in. It feels like cheating so I left it and tried searching for it an hour later, but to no avail. So, how do you sh3 captains deal with the stutter? Are you cold blooded captains who dismiss these hints or might there be the creative kaleun who might turn the 'bug' into a feature? ![]() I am fairly sure everyone has the same stutters. If not plz send help. ![]() ![]() Good hunting! |

As you said, everyone get this stutter when convoy is close enough (around 30Km radius)
I don’t believe there is a way to avoid it, unless playing very low time compression. Maybe around X64/X128 there is no stutter, at least not that noticeable.

I normally try and run at 1024 getting out to my OPAREA then drop to 128 for patrol. I ignore the stutter unless it is a radio contact (then normally drop down to 128 when within 30km of the likely area of intercept and to 32 when within 15-20 km).
