What is life ?
Which parameters shall be met to define life ? Here I'm thinking in physical and mental term. Does it need to have a psychological part to be defined as life ? (Had a hard time to get this right.) Does it need to be physical to be defined as life ? Markus

In a physical term? Life is a Bitch then you die.
In a mental term? Life is a Bitch then you Marry one and await death with open arms! |

By human definition life does not have to have a "psychological" part. Funghi, plants, salps, conodonts.. or let's say not in a human sense.
Does it have to be physical, maybe by human definition, yes. But not from external view or perception. Is light physical, or are magnetic fields? It is all about definitions..

Came to think of another dilemma regarding definition life.
A robot(build to look like a human) evolve a self-consciousness Can this be consider to be a life ? Markus

I think there is no generally acknowledged definition of life by humanity

The definition of life is something that can grow, reproduce and learn naturally.
Plants in general don't really 'learn' but they do adapt which is why plants can classify as life. Machines can not be considered life. Machines cannot grow or reproduce naturally. They have to be upgraded or manufactured. The whole "self-aware" theory is manufactured, not biological so the argument stating that a machine has become self-aware and is now 'alive' is misinterpreted. |

It's funny. Man rejects the concept of God but then piteously searches for the meaning of life. Kinda like the guy who throws away his paddle then complains of being Up The Creek without one.
![]() Life is what you make of it. My motto is to not sit around contemplating the meaning of life but go out and live it before it passes me by. |

Yes, life is a challenge, I try to balance living for the moment with being ready for unexpected changes. It's crazy but if you get really sick or if someone you care about dies suddenly, it certainly puts a change on things and tilts the scale more toward living it while you can.
