Why is Merkel being awarded the Theodor Herzl Award?

THis wa sin the German news already some weeks ago, and already back then I scratched my head and thoght it were a foul joke. Germany is by now extremely pro-Islam and anti-Judaism. I mybe it never was different.

The WJC is not beyond heavy criticsm, btw. Ironically from Jews. I would not say I have the impression they are representative for global Judaism and global Jewish communities. And I am not the first one to think that.

No cherry picking involved, you asked why she received the award, I just pointed out where the Chancellor of the World Jewish Congress stated why. Unless you are a member of the WJC your approval or disapproval is moot. It's their award, they can give it to whomever they wish.

Rhetorical questions sometimes are hard to perceive. Fact is that Germany's populistic pro-Palestine policy, its split-tongued approach on Israel, and Merkel's import of Muslim migrants in masses do not really qualify her for a prize with that name. The viooence agaiunst Jews in germany is so much effecitvely unreacted to in Germany that it is no exagerraiton anymore to say that it has become en vogue again to bash, poffen and attack Jews in Germany again. I'm sorry to say. An no, it is not only rightwingers. Attacks on Jews and offending Jews in the street is driven by Muslims for the most. Muslims and Nazis are natural allies in dispising Jews. The aliiance is very old.

America has a lot of empty routine in mourning school shooting victims. Germans have a lot of empty routine in expressing how sad they are about the latest antisemitic hate crime. Some people go out for picnic. Others go out for a sit-in at a synagogue with candles. The difference is that at a picnic the talking is not so endlessly repetitive.

Merkels political acts have done their significant share to make these things prospering again. But the whole potlical c aste is guilty there, and the German "intellectuals" as well.

I am neither Jewish or German, and since you haven't provided any cogent details on why you think Mrs. Merkel doesn't deserve that award, i have to trust the organization that gave her the recognition did so after careful consideration of Mrs. Merkel's actions in regards to the world Zionist organization's criteria for such awards.

German media did not take notice, sinc eit is a very dubious prize and almost nobody knows what this man Ke´alerghi after whom mthe Kalergi foundation is named , stood for. I say thta ware is far more rewaarding for her - and tells a lot about her real orientation. In principle Kalergi wanted the destruction of ethnic European identities and their melting into an international mix with other ethnicities that the states should enforce against resistence of their own people and that should be reached by europe giving up itslef and adapting to African and Middle Eastern ethnicities and middle eastern cultures. However, the claim that Nazis often make: that it shall be a Jewish elite leading this new super ethnicities and its poltical condensate, according to all what I know about Kalerghi is bollocks. - Merkel's solo 2015 suddenly appears in a very different light, doesn't it... Of course our state media tell the narration by different names. Thats why they are state media. Its around ten years ago I think that Merkel got this prize. She hid it as best as she could, it seemed to me.

Those voters are more dedicated to the person them self, than the title he or she have as politicians.
