Any drawback to ramming them versus shooting at them?
I'm wondering if that would cause hull damage. Haven't tried but I find that would be usefull when doing recon in enemy harbors and a fishing boat is on it way near you where surfacing and firing would draw the attention of nearby warships. I've seen pictures of WWII subs with what looks like an battering ram in front. Sort of an arched metal protrusion. |

Large metal submarine vs tiny and possibly wooden fishing boat.......realistically it should only cause slight damage, if even. Definetly something to try

Shoot first, ask questions later, if at all.
No, seriously, fire a single shot, then ram at will. Otherwise, you won't get credit. Works for steel-hulled trawlers too. |

I did receive damage to my torpedo tubes once (running RFB + RSRDC). I suspect that was because of the sinking mechanics side of that mod combo, where ships have way more HP and much more often sink by flooding than direct damage.

gentlemen, please keep in mind that this is not reality. what you are dealing with is the collision of two pseudo-solid objects whose physical characteristics are defined in several GAME files. the analogy of a car running over a cardboard box is not valid because the physical characteristics of the cardboard box have been redefined for GAME purposes. the .ZON files (and others) define the physical characteristics not the reality that we know and love. i say again, if you decide to do the Jack-Kennedy-thing and attempt to split open a fishing trawler or crab boat, you should expect to take damage. my advice is to use your deck guns or simply steer clear. i, myself, do not waste time or ammo unless i stumble upon one and take fire from her....which does not happen very often. good luck. ![]()

I can't speak to the megamods, but I have sustained no signficant damage ramming fishing boats, junks, sampans, etc. in stock 1.3 and 1.5.
Haven't tried it with a tugboat yet, but did attempt it on a severely damaged but obstinate LMT after running out of every type of ammunition. I don't recall any major damage to the boat, but there certainly wasn't any to the LMT. We just slid up onto the deck until friction took over. Even tried diving while there. ![]() |

IMO sorta like running over a cardboard box with your car... likely not a problem unless there's a 115 volt 400 Hz aircraft generator in it
