I was searching around trying to find out if there was any way to increase the max color depth of DW which is R5G6B5 for the steam version I have and probably others. I noticed R8G8B8 is mentioned in the exec file and seems to be the color depth used in ACTUV but couldn't find any info.
Eventually I found dgvoodoo, and tried it. Seems to work fine but its early days and I wondered about its stability and what settings to use. I tried antialiasing which worked but gave some artifacts around periscope views, on clouds and elsewhere where 2D surfaces are infront of 3D objects, but its pretty simple to use overall. There are issues with getting it to work on Windows 10 though. There is a link with some advice here: https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=54985 Doesn't prevent banding on menu screens, but does on 3D objects, apparently DW renders them completely differently and even 2D surfaces like clouds or helo rotors still have it. Edit: - After a bit of testing its apparent that while it helps in purely 3D scenes, it sucks at 2D overlays. Interfaces get laggy and clunky and the FPS in certain views like the MH60 pilot suck.... uninstalled. Last edited by Jace11; 01-06-19 at 01:50 AM. |
