Problem with LSH

I am probably being thick, but.. a few months back I lost my games computer and so have had to reinstall my games on a different machine. Today I got around to putting the LSH3 mod on again - which had been working fine before, but today the mod goes on and all seems well, but I cannot get the LSH starter to point to the game folder and there is no shortcut on the taskbar. It says there is no copy of SH3 in the folder - and there isn't an sh3.exe, so that is right. It did find the Steam version, but that is vanilla, so that no good. What am I doing wrong? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the mod about three times, and yes, SH3 is a clean unplayed copy and the mod installed without any murmurings.... I did look in the manual.. I am hoping you will say 'oh! well you have to..' and then it will run...
