Need some advice

Hey guys! so i just started playing silent hunter 3, haven't played a sub sim before. Its absolutely amazing! though its quite tough to grasp. For example im confused how to perform manual targeting. i havent learned TDC yet so i do it with periscope. I do all the steps but my torpedos always end just about undershooting the ships. can anyone explain how to properly target manually? whats the best way to find the angle on bow? right now i just plot course of ship and find it with protractor. Also would you guys know any good advanced tips/tutorials online other than the ones in the game? theres alot more tools for the sub not shown in tutorial from what i can tell. Thanks!

I also was missing targets by just undershooting them when I began manual targeting. My mistake was simple to fix. I was forgetting to open the torpedo tubes before firing so the little time it took for the tube to open when I fired was just enough time to throw my firing solution off. So make sure you're opening your tubes manually before clicking the fire button, I think it's the "w" key.

Thx for all the help guys!. Some really useful stuff here. Got the torpedo problem sorted. I see that many people just manually find the ships data as opposed to using the tools from the notepad. is it better to manually find and input the data in the TDC or is the same with just the periscope and the notepad?

Both methods get you to the same point, just using different procedures. Neither is "better" than the other. It's just everyone's personal preference how they want to obtain a firing solution. I personally enjoy the work that manual targeting involves and find it more satisfying. You should try both ways and see which way gives you the most enjoyment. Because it's just a game and the whole idea is just to have fun and relax.

Humm... The 2 method from SH III channel require TDC off....
Re watch the video and be sure to really understand the process.
