LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A man wrongfully convicted in California of the 1978 double-murder of a woman and her child is spending his first Thanksgiving Day as a free man in 39 years, after being released on the basis of DNA evidence.

I cannot help thinking that there is nothing the world can offer him now that will ever make up for the life he was deprived of living. All he has now is scars and the memory of long dead dreams. Still, better late than never.

Yes, I expected him to receive compensation of some sort. It is the least the state can do for him. I rejoyce in that.
In my original post, I was thinking of all the life experiences he will never have now, all the dreams he will never realize. Some things simply cannot be bought.
I can relate to this because I was deprived of enjoying a normal life in my teen years. I was kept in a boarding school from 12 to 18 y/o. Some consequences last to this day.

Poor guy, lost his whole life, now he gets out just to go through the pains of dying of old age!!
Hopefully he has some good years left.
