... and NOTHING !!!
Nice boats in the harbor, impossible to identify and target ... What a pity ! In SH3 it was possible to sneak in scapa flow and do a nice hunting party. Seem cold water offert just zombi ships, even surfacing do nothing !! ![]() |

Funny enough, that mostly makes sense to me. Think about it, what happens to ships after they dock at their home port? Most of the crew disembark leaving a skeleton watch, the holds are opened up and being filled with food, parts, weapons, etc. Systems are shut down so that maintenance and repairs can be done.
Now, with most if not all of the docked ships in that condition, their ability to fight is pretty much non existent. The watch might be able to see you, but aside from reporting to everybody that they have found a submarine, and maybe firing at you with small arms, they can't do much. However, during peacetime conditions, let alone wartime, I would expect a couple patrol vessels to be about, and maybe some MPAs that could be called in quickly....

If you are referring to a TLAM mission, I believed they removed the target and changed it to just fire anyware. Personally I never had a problem with the target.

I suspect port security would be rather alert. And if shallow enough an MPA could just look down and see the sub under the water in good conditions. I never really thought weather and visibility as being very good at that latitude, though.

I was not referring to TLAM mission.
My bro is in the french navy, in Toulon harbor. I can assure you, skeleton crew do exist, but there is always at last a rapid respond ship, plus cat team ready to rock on any threat ... Further more; when a capital ship is present ( peter the great was one of those nice ships ) some extra defense are set. When the Charle de Gaulle is present, the port is not a "free entrance put your torpedo here" ... I am pretty sure when a US CVN is at port, you wont be able to get in range with any ship or submarine ... |

The ships in the harbor are just there as scenery props.
