Want to buy SH 3 w/o Starforce

I have a copy of SH3, but it is an old copy with Starforce protection and I do not want to go through the removal procedure [even if I could figure it out]. So if any has an extra copy of SH3 with Starforce, I would like to buy it. It is impossible to determine if Starforce protection is on any of the SH3 sold on Ebay and it appears that it is on SH3 sold by Amazon.

Purchase it from UbiStore (5€). I did it few years ago and it hasn't starforce or DRM.

You can also buy the Amazon digital version which is basically a ripped version of the starforce free disk. Just need to run the installer.

This information refers only to English language discs.
You can still buy new dvd’s for SHIII made by Encore.
These come in two versions.
Silent Hunter II + Silent Hunter III (2 discs)
Silent Hunter III
The Encore version is Canadian but can be easily purchased from the USA or through Subsim.
Although these are new the main problem with the Encore version is that it will only install in the default program (x86) folder in the main drive C:

Second hand discs can be purchased from places like Ebay and also from Amazon through their third parties.
It is important when purchasing these discs that you get a Starforce Free Version.
The dvd you are looking for will be showing ESS632.

The Starforce Free Version will be Black at the Bottom and White at the Top.
A typical File Version showing in Properties is 8.2.160.0
Product Version 1.4.0000
Date modified 18/08/2006
Do not be misled by the silver band at the top of the Dvd case that says Games in white letters which is irrelevant.

The Starforce Version will be Black at the Bottom and Silver at the Top.
These have a Product Version showing in Properties of 1.00.0000
This version does not have the latest patch and has copy write protection.

Just ask the seller if the disc is White at the Top and if yes, you will be ok.

I want to thank everyone to their quick response. As my wife is sick at home today, I wanted to get started on SH3 so I downloaded it from Amazon.

FYI: It is starforce free and patched to 1.4.

This is the version that I have, And I can install it anywhere.

I installed to my H: drive (a 300gb 10K rpm Raptor) in XP, I can and have installed it other places with WINE in Linux.

Maybe it's a Win7/8/10 thing?

Hello, I know old thread. I am looking for a SH3 DVD. Where is the ESS632 # located and also the product code and version #. THEBERBSTER mentioned that the correct non Starforce version is white at the top and black at the bottom is that the disc or the sleeve?
