Hello all,
I'm new to the game and I just had a quick question. I just finished my 8th patrol after sinking 4 merchant ships. In port, I was offered a promotion and desk job and it said it would end my sea career. I declined the promotion to stay at sea but my renown decreased. Does anyone have any guidance on this? should I have accepted the promotion? Thanks! |

CTD - it's not just a job

If you would have accepted the "promotion", the game is over, basically, but - you can start a new career. It's about as wide as it is long. If you're enjoying your current career, I'd stay with the career. If you're itching to try a new mod, then take the promotion.

Renown is worthless anyway.
The only number that matters is TONNAGE!

Renown is useful at the beginning of a career, to spend on upgrades and replacing all the bootcamp lubbers with salty Petty Officers. Once you have all the upgrades possible there's nothing left to spend the renown on anyway.
