Note the comments on how they get the numbers. Even when considering these and taking into account some healthy scepticism, one can hardly expoect that Windows 10 will make a big comeback. Windows 7 still performs strong. On ecomnpany says W19 outnumbers W7 now - but only in the US. Another company says that W7 still rules over W10. Whatever Microsoft hoped to acchieve with W8/10 suicide desaster, I think it is clear they did not get it so far, and hardly will get it in the future. Android is marching on. And the Microsoft browser also underperforms spectacularly. And especially Edge's outlook seems to be bleak.

![]() Windows isn't really dead, but it's prone to and easily attacked with all kinds of crap getting in by hackers from all over the world. Better security from MS would be beneficial and could save their hides. But only if they smarten up and listen to what people say.

I really think it's too late already Gary as people know they can't trust Microsoft. Win 10 is filled with spyware and in fact is nothing more than spyware itself and little more than a billboard sign with ad after ad. Google may jump on the train but Linux and it's derivatives are the only real viable alternative. Linux lets you take control of your PC, desktop or laptop, the way it should have been all along. |

PC Gamers are going to keep Windows 10 alive well into the year 4000.

It will be hard for 'Android' to deliver a system that is as advanced as the Windows server family having the advantages they offer, but it is certainly entirely possible that they could do it at some point.
And if i look at MS's policies with "Azure", virtual servers you have to lend, and the intrusive crap Win10 is loaded with, people will look for alternatives. Same as with the Adobe products. InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop have beome the quasi standards, but you cannot buy it anymore, only lend it for a year, and to ridiculous prices. There are a lot of alternatives coming up since Adobe made the "wise" decision to act that way. Problem of monopolies, i just wonder how one could evade those, regardless which branch. I use Win 10, but i hate it every day. Edit: re Spoon 11th: Right. But watch out as soon as there will be games for Linux.

With a little bit of diligence, you can play your games originally made for windows applications with Linux. The wine component essentially interfaces between Linux and the Windows version games you have thus enabling you to play your games. I did away with Windows 10 on my new units so the issues with Microsoft don't affect me one way or the other. If Microsoft or Windows 10 were such a great thing, chip manufacturers like Intel and AMD would not have made changes to the Bios on motherboards in conjunction with Microsoft on new units in an effort to prevent you from installing new operating systems like Linux on newly purchased computers. People can either put up with Microsoft or utilize an attractive and viable alternative like Linux. Last edited by Commander Wallace; 04-04-17 at 01:44 PM. |
