Default Getting back in the Capt. Chair buying non steam?

I been away for a while now and like to get back into the fray. I already have SH5 Steam version or linked to steam but was wondering in order to have an easier time and more mods available would it be worth buying Non steam version on discs? there are some still avail good used around $20, there is also SH5 Gold digital download from Amazon for $10.

Wondering if anyone have gone this route if it works or not? Or any input on my ideas above.

Thanks

I'm using the gold edition that I had on Uplay (Ubi Softs own download service)

I had no trouble at all installing the wolves of steel mod with the patcher etc. I also have the disc version but my PC has not had a cd drive for around 5 years now hehe.

Highly Recommended SH5 > The Wolves Of Steel Mega Mod > Includes Optional KSDCommander And Working Enigma M4 Machine

Buying the dvd version you own it, it is yours, and is easy to install from.

Non-Steam SH5 Gold digital downloads mod fine. The Steam versions I can't comment on; I think you have to jump through a few hoops to get mods working.

I actually have and recommend the SH5 Gold digital download from Amazon.
It has the same file structure as the DVD version so if you have a DVD burner you just burn it to DVD with a text file with your cd key.
Or put it on a usb drive. And if for some reason your DVD gets lost or won't work anymore you can always log into Amazon and redownload it.
So you have several ways to access the installation files.

P.S. If you ever need to reinstall make sure you first delete the "ownership" folder found in C:\Program Files (x86)\Ubisoft\Ubisoft Game Launcher\cache (or where ever your Ubisoft Game Launcher directory is located) otherwise it will tell you that your cd key is in use already (this does not work with steam versions). Just had to do this the other day so I can verify it works.
