Default Guten Tag! I am new here!

I just received an email reminding me to submit an introductory post on this forum so here goes nothing! I have played subsim games for about six years now. I got hooked after playing Sub Command and Dangerous Waters. I started on the Silent Hunter series about 2 years ago and I am currently in the midst of my first career on Silent Hunter 5. I also play Command Modern Air and Naval Operations but I am still in the learning stage for that one, thanks to the ridiculous learning curve. My interest in these games came from my years of interest and intensive study of naval history, particularly WWII and the Cold War. Does anybody know if there are any new subsim games in the works or coming out in the near future? A new Silent Hunter perhaps? I would personally love to see a Cold War or modern era Silent Hunter or a modernized Sub Command but thanks to the almost "boutique" nature of these games, I have my doubts about seeing any new releases any time soon. I look forward to continuing to participate in these forums in the future. Thank you!

Welcome to Subsim gunther_prien. Nice Introduction as well. You might want to check into Sub Command if you want to take command of a modern Submarine.

I don't recommend the steam version but you should be able to find it from Amazon or other places in a DVD format.

Enjoy.

I have played Sub Command off and on for years now and really enjoy it. However, it is very buggy, especially when it comes to torpedoes and enemy contacts randomly streaking across the map at high speed. I would love to see a new version of Sub Command with modern graphics and game play.

I must admit I never got the hang of Sub Command although I rarely had the time to sit down and play it and learn it's intricacies. With multi core Processors in modern computers, we are all hoping for a truly immersive Simulation although the " modders " here have worked hard to keep things fresh, especially with the Silent Hunter series.

By the way, I have seen " mods " introducing "modern " subs like the Akula and Alfa's in SH4 into WW2 scenarios. I know it's cheating but it seems like fun.

I will have to dust off my copy of Sub Command and give it a go again.
