GWX3 Gold install help

Hello I'm new to silent hunter III and have been trying to install the GWX gold for about a week now I've deleted the game and reinstalled 4-5 times now trying to get it working, but every time I try to install the expansion it tells me there are mods installed. I don't have any idea what could be wrong, if anyone has any idea what might be wrong any help is greatly appreciated.

If it is a fresh install, that leaves 2 questions that come to mind:

1: Is it downloaded through Steam?

2: If NOT, then have you patched to version 1.4b?

GWX 3.0 MUST be installed over a fresh-clean installation of SH3 patched to version 1.4b.

Since you have re-installed it should be a clean install, so the game version is all I can think of ATM.

Someone with more sleep may have a few more ideas.

I did download it through steam, is the steam version known to have problems with gwx?

I did a quick search, and I didn't see any thing to suggest (it was a VERY quick search) that GWX 3 won't work with the Steam version.

However I did find this thread, post #4 has a video on installing GWX on the Steam version of SH3.

I didn't watch it, as I just arrived at my pc...

Hopefully it will show what you need...

Only other thing I can think of, did you install Steam in C:\Program Files\Steam ?

Vista and up will interfere with modifications to the files...

If the video doesn't help, and you did install to C:\Program Files\Steam, there is a way to install SH3 to another location without re-installing steam...

I got it!! I needed to run the GWX exe in compatibility mode for windows XP (service pack 3)

Hey Yall!

So I am trying to download GWX for the first time in years. Have the files been removed? I go to the downloads section on the GW website, when I click on the Download button it takes me to a file front page that has nothing with SH3 on it :/. Neither link works

If you're a supporter you can download directly via subsim.com.
I have GWX 3.0 Gold zip file that I can send to you directly via justbeamit.com if you like.

If that works for you I can PM you a justbeamit link to the file

I just downloaded it off the Greywolves site a few minutes ago (http://thegreywolves.com/downloads/), you have to download the .exe and the 7 bin files individually though, the download gwx3 button links don't work. I moved all 8 files into my SH3 folder and ran the exe file, everything installed perfectly.
