GameFront closing down

Am I alone in both not being surprised as their demise and not being sorry to see them go?

When they changed hands in 2010 they flushed thousands of great mods, making their policy one of "if a certain number of downloads don't happen per month your files are gone without warning!" I remember us scrambling at that time to get mods in a safe place. All my SH4 mods but one were eliminated and all my tutorial videos were terminated. People pop up all the time here asking why mods don't exist for SH4 v1.4 and before. The biggest reason is the FileFront/GameFront sellout. The mods were flushed.

I sure didn't consider going back there after that. I considered their attitude not to be a service to modders in the least and their behavior was borderline predatory. My mods all came home to Subsim. My videos hit You Tube, where they live today. We nearly lost WernerSobe's tactical videos, Legion's Noob Guide, and who knows how many videos were lost.

So I'm really stoked to see them get what they deserve. Oblivion. I hope all the modders who foolishly relied on the place get their mods to high ground. But as far as GameFront itself goes "Hasta la vista, Baybeee!" Don't let the door hit you on the way out of the Internet.
