Default Stardew Valley

Figured I would share this little indie gem that has been tearing up the steam charts since its release a week ago.

Stardew Valley is an old school game, borrowing heavily from the original harvest moon games. You create a character who inherits a farm that you can develop how you like. Unlike harvest moon, this game has a whole lot more options as to how you progress, and the game isn't time limited at all.

Anyhow I suggest checking it out as it is really good. It's available on steam and gog.

I would say that if you loved Harvest Moon (particularly old school games) you will really love this one, as it is Harvest Moon only much bigger and more complex (plus the dev plans on continuing to expand the game post release).

Mud I'm not sure why you think the game is for 5 year olds. The game actually has a lot of depth and complexity to it. The graphics are intended to be reminiscent of the NES/GBC days. Also the game has a number of mature references to it, like finding the mayor's 'shorts' quest for example.

In this game you can grow crops, raise animals, become a logger, make different artisan goods, mine metals while fighting monsters, build the farm however you want, forage for stuff to sell, do quests, have relationships, get married, have kids, crafting and cooking, fishing, and a lot of other stuff.

The game right now has a 10/10 review score from 6,248 reviews on steam.

Anyhow here is a review for the game.

Made silly talk with some town folks, a fairy grew my beans I planted and did some fishing and catch driftwood, cola and an old paper.
Sorry Neon, I guess it's not my type of game ..... maybe I'm getting to old for this

Nah I understand, there is no such thing as a game that is for everyone.

This is a strange game for me. I don't particularly enjoy playing it, but I still keep playing it, kinda like "one more block" with Minecraft.

Love the graphical style very much.

I do wish there were some running expenses, though. The tooltips could be a bit better as well, like when you want to upgrade your tool, it doesn't really tell you what the new tool does (or that your current tool will be taken away from you).

Cool game, no doubt about it.

EDIT: Wow, I appear to have played it for 17 hours already! I don't even like it that much!

Ya, thats how I felt about harvest moon. But there is always just one more thing to do it seems (or usually a whole list of them).

As for running expenses, there kind of are... Seeds are the obvious example, along with deterioration of stuff or weed creep. Eventually you can get to the point of being entirely self sufficient, but it takes a long time to get there.

I caved and bought it.

Reminds me so much of what I enjoyed about the Harvest Moon series while being unique in its own right.

Love the mining, farming, interactions with characters etc.

Don't like the lack of information available at the moment on in game events, peoples schedules etc but that'll change given a few more weeks as people figure that stuff out.

Now if you'll excuse me, back to Pelican Town I go!

This is wrong.
You don't plant tulips in spring. You plant them late autumn
