Default More Questions/issues S.O.S

Hi again. Sorry to bother you-all with my newbness once again. Anyway I guess I'll probably have them until i get my sea-legs and everything.

So ok, I have the LSH3 2015 and seems good and well with the *Exception* of Time Compresson. You see its seeming to like to Crash To Deskstop at certain points when going to or above around the 512 mark. I'm dubious if its to do with my computer but for what its worth heres some very general specs:

Processor: Intel(R) Core i5-2500 cpu @3.30 ghz
Installed memory: 4.0GB RAM
and my Video card is an Nvidia GT 610.

I'm of the view it's entirely possible my RAM is the issue. If thats the case so be it RAM is cheap these days.

Also I remembered a question I was going to ask but forgot but: Deck/Flak Guns: What's the Deal? a little stormy seas and "Ach, nein herr Kaleu, ve cannot to zis ve may get wet uns seasick from the stormy seas" LAME! Is there any additional mod to get around this?

There are a couple of ways to fix that. The problem is that the computers that SH3 was built for couldn't handle the graphics of extreme seas. The other problem is that it was easier for them not to worry about ships sinking in heavy weather if there isn't any heavy weather.

Along the way people tried to modify the weather to get heavier, and it couldn't be done. One cool solution was to double the wave size for the listed weather, making it look like it was twice as strong. One of the variations of this is built into SH3 Commander, allowing you to adjust the way the waves look, even offering a variable option according to the season.

But you asked about the guns. The only real fix is to go into your SH3/Data/Submarine folder and select the type of u-boat you're using. The second file in the list should be the cfg file, which opens with NotePad. At the bottom of the [Properties] list is the StormConditions. The max wind speed is set for 7 and the rain intensity is set for 0.1. You can adjust those to anything you like (max possible wind is 15 and rain is 1).

Or you can use GWX, which has already adjusted those somewhat. I have mine set to different speeds for different boats, and judge whether I use the gun by whether waves are washing over the deck (I do use Commander's 'Seasonal' Wave Height settings).

I'm running 16GBs of matched DDR3 Ram for the motherboard and my 740GT gfx card has 2GBs of DDR5 memory.

IMHO, the more RAM for both gives better results.

Thanks, all. Yeah I'll be the first to admit my rig ain't what she used to be. Granted its a custom-job so at least I dont have to worry about buying a whole new unit. Just a matter of getting the $$$ together and getting a RAM upgrade and i suspect a lot of problems will be resolved. I just in the meantime will be saving the game very, very often.
