After spending a few patrols thinking the FAT torpedos were tedious to use (have to remember to increase straight run for long range shots) they finally clicked.
In one, I fired 2 torpedoes each at two ships in a far away convoy. One ship was hit by both, but both missed the other ship and I was dismayed until they turned around and hit it from the other side. Off the coast of Africa I spotted a small convoy (four merchants with a zigzagging destroyer in the front). I figured I'd open up by blowing up the lead destroyer. My torpedoes missed due to the destroyer turning out of the way, but they then immediately turned around and one slammed into it from the other side. I was then able to leisurely sink the four merchants. I feel much better about them now. Especially since I suspect most of my convoy hunting will be from a distance instead of sneaking in for close range shots. |
