Default A scalextric dream

Following August wonderful thread about his Railroading, made me remember a dream I use to have

A big room-maybe the size of a living room with 10's of meters of scalextric tracks with houses, etc etc(used "etc" course I don't know the name of all the stuff that comes or should be part of a race track)

300-400 meters 4 tracks scalextric digital, with everything.

Like you, I know nothing much really about Scalextric, though unlike 80 per cent of the British public, I do know how to pronounce the name. Despite being from that generation which grew up with it we never had a set... it was just too expensive for Mum and Dad to buy, but I always hankered. You can probably get a Scalextric simulator by now, anyway

I actually got into model railroading because my slot car set came with a railroad track crossing piece like this

Its some years ago when I tried to run a car on a scalextric track in a model shop in the town I lived before. I asked the person behind this event many question

Was told scalextric is the best you can get when it comes to racetracks. Then I toke a look at the price and fainted

Today it is mostly digital.

I can't describe how I see my room with many many meters of tracks from scalextric and houses, trees etc

I do know before I have to make a blue print over how I want it. Then I have to make tables to where the tracks can rest on. Have even imagine a 3-4 floors high spiral and they go under the table a.s.o

But such a track would cost thousands if not hundred of thousands of Dollars

So it will, until I win the jackpot in Eurojackpot, be nothing but a dream

In my younger days there was only the choice of grand prix or rally cars but nowadays there is a massive choice to select from.
