after i made 1 post elsewhere and people already started to say hi to me (

), i figured i'll post my small introduction here.

im coming back to SH3 after few years, though i never was great at this.
today will be my 3rd day of learning manual targetting and maybe i can finally hit something that is actually moving.

this is how my previous 2 days went:

i thought 1st real patrol in AM18 should be easy enough to learn some new skills: small convoy, 4 freighters with no escort and coming my way. all i have to do is wait: they are heading east, 7 knots, its around 80km per 6.5h. easy.
around 18h since 1st report im still waiting for them. finally im getting report: they are (way) south from me

god damnit! they changed course after 12h

time to reload save, im here to learn targetting, not how to chase a convoy.

this time im smarter: ill meet them where they should be at the 12h mark since 1st report. around 10h im there, 11h waiting, 12h still waiting, 13h they are few kilometers east of me. im looking outside: rain, heavy fog, clouds. damnit, probably i just couldnt see them in this ****ty weather.

this time im gonna use this methed to intercept them, just to be sure. i arrived at the meeting point few hours sooner, time to wait.

im looking outside: weather like in "Das Boot" when they were almost rammed by destroyer. those 4 freighters could as well be few hundreds meters from me and i wouldnt know. periscop depth, lets see if my radio guy can hear anything. waiting...waiting...nothing. lets surface again. what a big surprise that was to see those freighters around 200-300 meters away from my boat. ok time to measure range, their speed, course, AOB, all this ****!

yeah, right. in this weather i could as well shoot randomly around me and with better results too. also they started evasive manouvers, only blindmen couldnt see me at this range. damnit!

yup, and thats all ive got so far. maybe ill get lucky today: 1 lonely freighter, heading straight east and the sun is shining

PS: if you can recommend some solo missions i could easily train manual targetting, ill appreaciate it.
