So, after finally solving my issues on getting a non star force copy, and installing LSH, I decided to start my first career, in the 7th Flotilla, out of St. Nazaire. I set my course out of the bunker, and out towards the Rockall Banks....hit ahead slow, and turn up the TC to 128. Suddenly, I get a flood of messages and the "you are dead" screen. Turns out, I need to wait for the lock gates to open....I love the realisim, but man...what a stupid way to end a career. That's the last time I let Bernard take the helm

You could start outside of the harbor with sh commander. The CCoM mod has exactly the same gates but flags as well which indicate how long it takes for the doors to open.. Maybe such flags come with a later version of lsh, dunno..

Yes, it's stupid, and yes, we've all done it, or something like it. Hitting the wrong key and surfacing in the middle of the task force, leaving the dock at flank speed rather than slow, and more. My worst was shelling a freighter from 50 meters away and having it explode and take me with it...in the Artillery Training Course.
![]() I always start at dockside, just because I think those locks are so cool!

Been there, done that. First time I saw the sluice gates I thought there were merely "cosmetic" and I could ignore them. Hit them at 8 knots and heard some terrible shredding metal sound and screams from the crew.
I have since learned, by observation, that the gates open and close and that there are signals which indicate there activity. There is a chart in your sub which explains the signals, but it is in German only, in LSH2015. Don't know if they are available in other mods. About that Ccom mod. I have encountered that name recently but have not been able to find out anything about it. Anybody have a link?

Yep... Those gates are fun ones. I just beached myself on a sub net going out of Wilhelmshaven last night. Scared the crap out of me!
