Default Some quick questions about career

Hello skippers!

After a long silent run, I´m now playing SH5 with OHII and TDW new UI (and also with the "no tonnage bar" mod). However, I have some questions:

1) How can I earn more medals besides Iron Cross 1st and 2nd class? Also, I only have one of the U-boat clasps, how can I get the other?

2) Is it better (to get new medals, renown and new boats) to finish all my patrol objectives, refit many times the U-boat and sinking ships so I can get a high tonnage mission, or finish my objectives, sink ships with my remaining torpedoes and go home?

2) When I get a mission like "engage enemy convoy and sink at least X ships", how can I complete it? Any convoy anywhere in the map will be enough?

Thank you guys!

Hi Bera

Vecko might able to answer your questions as he has a better understanding of the SH5 set up than me.

My understanding is that you get bonus points for completing patrol objectives that can be used to improve your crews capabilities.
Having said that not all crew promotion points work when given.

If you started with a VIIA in Memel then you will still continue with that boat when your base changes to Wilhelmshaven.

Your tonnage totals and number of ships you sink are obviously important for you to obtain medals and also to upgrade your boat to a VIIB.

Personally I would not do Breaking The Fortress but would continue to use that time to continue sinking ships on the East Coast.
It is quite likely that when you start North Western Approaches you will still have a VIIA.
NWA offers some larger tonnages with AMC's that are based in Loch Ewe.
Also there is a Dale Class Fleet Oiler of over 14,000 tons out there.

EBCW I did 2 patrols 15 ships for over 77,000 tons 19 promotion points and sensor upgrade.
NWA I did 2 patrols 9 ships over 50,000 tons 10 promotion points.

My U-boat upgrade came after I ended my first NWA patrol in Wilhelmshaven.
I completed the 2nd NWA patrol with the VIIB 8 ships over 70,000 tons 10 promotion points.

My SH5 medals after 5 patrols

In contrast to this these are my SH3 medals from LSH3-2015 now in a type IXB after 8 patrols (includes 2 patrols testing the VIIB and IXB.)
Sub Base is Lorient.

The highest medal awarded showing is.
Knights Cross with Golden Oak Leaves, Golden Swords and Diamonds

Thank you, Theberbster!

Wow, soo many medals you´ve got in SH3! But when your boat is sinking and there´s only you left, it is the pistol next to the medals that really matters!

Hi Bera

I just hope the bullets are better than some of the torpedoes.
