Default waterline looks fluorescent

I searched the forums until getting glassy-eyed, so thought I'd throw this out to you..
At night the sub waterline looks colored and borderline fluorescent. Daytime, the waterline looks ok.
I'm running Win7 with an nVidia card (GeForce GTX 750Ti).
Ring a bell with anyone? Thanks..

Greystone, this is not a photorealistic game. If it were you could look at beautiful scenery but nothing would ever move because your computer would be overheating, throttling back CPUs and catching fire.

For better or worse computers just aren't good enough. Game manufacturers have to compromise between eye candy and gameplay. Thank God, most of the time the SH4 devs chose to optimize gameplay over the eye candy.

Now it is a fact that in most of the warm part of the Pacific there are bioluminescent plankton, both animal and plant, which glow brightly when disturbed, not only around the waterline, but for half a mile or so in the wake of a boat slowly dimming as they reenter a state of rest. This was a major giveaway to a sub's position on a smooth ocean during an attack. Even the glow produced by the periscope was very dangerous, kind of an optical sonar that didn't need to be plugged in.

But we have to be concerned when our appetite for eye candy impacts the quality of gameplay. Environmental mods are particularly at fault here. Being dissatisfied with the color of the water, or a glow around the waterline, or "funky clouds." We've had people concerned about airplanes like the Zero dropping depth charges that they never carried and lots of effort spent on fixing that kind of thing.

As a practical matter, if you're attacking submerged, you don't see the plane, you don't see the waterline, you don't see the funky clouds. The game is at its best and you don't care about any of that because you are playing the game like it was meant to be played.

Don't sweat the small stuff. It's the quality of the gameplay that you will remember. A beautiful game that plays like crap will be tossed like a live grenade.

Thanks to Caustic and his Improved Stock Environment mod, the problem has been solved.

It's amazing when we "solve" "problems" that exactly correspond to reality. How would you solve the "problem" with a real boat in the real Pacific?

Heck with a sailboat in Florida running 8 knots I have a flourescent glowing waterline with a glowing wake back several hundred yards. I tried Kriller2's Environmental mod and it didn't help a bit.
