Default Score Ten Points For An Old Lady...

Now that we are old, and it's OK now to laugh at old people, I can smile at last when I recall the time, many years ago, when my pal John and I waited in a painfully slow-moving queue leaving a display installation at the Biggin Hill Airshow. It was a section of "Nimrod" fuselage, containing a lot of electronic ASW stuff all plugged in to a socket round the back of the Burger Van. The queue had shuffled grimly through this thing like spectators at Lenin's tomb, gazing cluelessly at all the winking lights and flickering screens, and I began to wonder whether we'd ever get out.

Finally we were outside in the rain, atop a metal gantry with steps, but this queue... this queue! Suddenly John looked at me and said: "Sod this for a game of soldiers". He vaulted clean over the rail and dropped about six feet, to land in an enormous muddy puddle, his size twelve monkey-boots sending filthy water cascading all over an old lady near the bottom (probably the one who'd been holding us all up). The younger man with her just looked at John and said "Oh... CHEERS!"

I felt ashamed as we slunk away like a couple of yobs. But I have to laugh whenever I think of that bloke's "Oh, Cheers!"

Have you ever had your enjoyment of someone else's misfortune totally ruined by your own conscience? You needed to laugh but you knew you couldn't? Well have a good laugh now and tell us about it.
