Default no "real" punishment for cheating in the NFL

if the owner is a friend of the commissioner then you can get away with cheating all you want, its like being in the mob, you are above the law.

the falcons got what I consider a very weak punishment to lose a lowly 5th round draft pick next year in 2016 draft, what a joke, why bother even doing anything if that is the "so-called" punishment for cheating to create an unfair advantage by piping in crowd noise so opposing teams cannot communicate on the field. I suspect it was put off until next years draft since they don't want to disrupt all the wheeling and dealing going on and the falcons being stripped of the first round pick (#8 overall) wouldnt have thrown a serious monkey wrench into this years draft but it would have hurt the team, something the NFL obviously didn't want to do so instead they lose a meaningless 5th round pick, of which they have two picks in the 5th round.

not specifically targeted at the falcons situation, but in general, it should be mandatory that any team caught cheating should lose their first round draft pick in the following years draft and maybe more, depending on the scope of how bad the cheating was and if it had any impact on that team or any other team making the playoffs. the penalty must be severe enough to ensure teams not only wont cheat but they will make sure no one on the team things its a good idea to cheat.

just look at the patriots getting caught in the act of cheating, move along here nothing to see, just forget what you saw and heard and all the clear evidence of guilt beyond any fathom of doubt about it, because they are the patriots so its ok.

the fact that the investigation is over and nothing is going to happen to the patriots for getting caught red handed deflating footballs is comical just because they claimed it was some low level minimum wage stadium worker took it upon himself to go let the air out of the ball to the exact softness brady wanted them.

man he must be a mind reader to know to do that, maybe space aliens told him to do it? in the wildest stretch of imagination, we are to assume the patriots did not order this guy to do it and they knew nothing about it?

there is no way brady or and other team mates didnt know the second they put hands on the ball that it was too soft, and not reporting it is cheating so they knowingly concealed the use of tampered balls to get an unfair advantage.

and the NFL's excuse for ignoring this cheating by the patriots who have been caught cheating 6 or 7 times over the last 10 years (can you say habitual cheaters?) is - "well it didn't change the outcome of the game" lol what a crock since the lopsided victory was caused by the cheating. its like pushing someone in front of a bus then saying the push didn't cause them to die it was the bus hitting them. im sure patriots owners influence with the league had nothing to do with the outcome of the investigation either.

punish em all and do it harshly or just stop pretending and don't even pretend to punish anyone such as this falcons so-called punishment.

the saints lost 3 draft picks first and third round and second round the next year plus head coach suspended for entire season because somebody said "got out there and take em out" oooh maybe the FBI should have been called because that sounds like admitting to a murder plot if that's all the evidence needed. the saints got nuked for bounty gate that was proven by facts and testimony to have never happened and was just shear opinion based "feelings" over an out of context locker room motivational speech comments every team makes that happened to be caught on a recording.

I don't ever want any team to be unfairly treated the way the saints were, but the patriots were caught red handed and have no ambiguity in their guilt. they are guilty and there is no denying that even if the league chooses to turn a blind eye to their guilt.

the patriots punishment for cheating should be no less harsh then the penalty given to the saints in that Bill Belichick and the team GM should be suspended for a full year and the top three draft picks stripped from the team along with millions in fines and the players involved, brady, the center, the receivers and others who handled the ball in that game should get game suspensions for not reporting the under inflated balls. but they are the almighty patriots so only the ball boy is guilty and that poor sap lost his job for just following the orders he was given by Bill Belichick and Tom Brady.

equal treatment for all no matter if the owner of the cheating team is your friend

the NFL needs to stop being hypocritical in its enforcement of league rules, no matter who breaks them.

rant over, let the fun begin as people will always try to defend the cheaters
