After much frustration I got the bonus Narwhal to work!!!!!

I just started a career, so maybe in a couple of years I'll discover a bug, but it seems ok in 1941. Just copy over the bonus Narwhal files except: Don't copy over \New Narwhal K v 1.8.5\Data\Library\USSubParts Don't copy over \Data\UPCData\UPCUnitsData weapons or upgrades .upc Don't copy over \Data\Submarine\NSS_Narwhal\NSS_Narwhal.cfg Don't copy over \Data\UPCData\UPCCampaignData EDIT: Oops forgot something. Don't copy over flotillas.upc I think that is it. I hope I didn't forget anything. Change the .upc values as noted below.

No because RSRD has it's own guns system. They still work!
![]() Actually as a test I wanted to try the two 50 cals you get at the start of the game. The one time I wanted to find aircraft, and wouldn't you know it none would come close enough to attack. Finally a couple wandered in closer. I went to battle stations and at medium range I put the 50 cals at fire at will! Both times I hit them, I saw the smoke trail as they flew off, and they missed me. I don't know if the 50 cals messed up their aiming or I just got lucky. The Narwhal isn't a fast diver so I am experimenting with different play styles. Maybe battle stations then dive. That way men are on the deck on the 50 cals until the last minute. One thing I did notice was that RDRD only gives the Narwhal a handful of specific missions, while say the Porpoise gets lots and lots of specific missions. So for myself, I manually converted the Poropises' missions so that the Narwhal does more than just patrol. You can find tutorials on how to edit the missions on the forum, but the process was pretty intuitive. Copy and paste then change the name and value (F1,F2, for example) to the new sub. I also changed it in my flotilla so I start in Manila. Saves the fuel!

Still experimenting, thanks for a great sub! The deck guns don't seem as over powered as everyone was making them out to be. Maybe I am just doing it wrong. I've been experimenting with just letting my crew fire to take anyway from my manual over accuracy, but then I get frustrated that they can't hit a target less than 500 yards away and wasting half my ammo!
Uses a lot of fuel, even starting in Manila and steaming only 1/3 all the time, I'm down to 1/4 of a tank and have to make it all the way down to Java. Only two aft tubes, but I never really fired that much from aft anyway, but inconvenient for those duds and prematures! I guess that is what the deck guns are for! All in all it's nice to have something different. After a while the subs start feeling the same. Plus, I like feeling like a special snowflake in a unique sub that looks badass! ![]() The torpedo door animations are a little funky, you can see inside of the model when the doors open, so I turned off the event cam. I thought I would miss the candy but I actually like it with no event camera now. I still have the external view for when I want to get cinematic. You do great work keltos01! Thanks for all you do! We are such a lucky community to have you! Next I am going to convert your I-400 sub for my own personal alternate history campaign. Have it on the US side! ![]()
