Default Homeworld Remastered

I got to say, I'm slightly surprised there isn't a thread about this one. The Homeworld series is one of the best space strategy/tactical games ever made. Unlike many remakes, hd patches, etc., where the devs hardly did anything. This game really has been brought to the level of a brand new AAA game.

Apparently Gearbox are total fanbois of the series, so they acquired the rights. They rebuilt the game engine, updated all the graphics, remastered the sound effects, and redid all the cut-scene animations, and switch the UI to Homeworld 2's UI. They didn't mess with how the game plays, the stats of ships or anything else, so the game plays exactly like the originals did, so this is a true remaster. Best of all, Homeworld Remastered includes all the content of Homeworld 1 and Homeworld 2, it comes with the original games updated so they run on the latest OS's, and it comes with a beta multiplayer feature which the devs are still working on. All for 35USD on Steam (link below).

If you want to see the difference between the original and the remaster, TotalBiscuit took a look at it.

Oh man I remember this game. I got into it after a friend of mine in the military had it. I watched him play it for a few hours that was it. I bought it the next day it was the last copy they had at the base exchange. I played it exclusively for 4 or 5 months.

I still have my discs for both games. It is the best space type game I have played.

Just as much fun playing remastered as I did playing the originals. It's a shame about cataclysm.
