Hi Captains,
I’m a big fan of Hitman’s method of approach/attack as is explained in the documentation of his mods, (i.e. using the marks in optics and referring to Hitman’s tables to estimate ship’s range). Currently I’m using Ahnenerbe widescreen 1920x1080 and in one of the two periscopes, (I think it’s the Observation periscope but I’not 100% sure, because I’m at work and I can’t check it) there are marks very similar to that ones in Hitman’s optics. I’ve already changed the periscope magnification factors according to Hitman’s mod (1,5x and 6x in sensors.dat), but I find that my calculations of range are all underestimated of about 500 mt. I also tried to import in Ahnenerbe’s optics the “attack scale” that I found in Hitman mod (after having resizing it from 500x500 to 900x900 pixels), but underestimation of range still remains. Do you know if there is a way to correct this error? Maybe I should draw another scale? In that case how can I know the angle of view of periscope? Thanks for any help.

Hitman's vertical scales are milliradians, Ahnenerbe's probably are degrees.

I'm not an expert but I think that If I could know the angle covered by the "vertical extension" of the periscope view, I would be able to calculate the range by trigonometry and correct either Hitman tables or the periscope scale. Is there a parameter, in any file in SH3 (sensor.dat or others), that set this value?
