Modding help required

Hi everyone, I'm quite new her. Last time I've decided to return to good old silent hunter 4 and this time by the first time I've used mods on stock game. My first encounter with mods was natural sinking mechanics for v1.3 but after short time i installed u-boat missions and got to v1.5. After that step i was trying to find mentioned mod for v1.5 but it's only for v1.4 and even that thread looks quite dead for me so i thought 'hey this whole modding thing can't be that hard, can it?' but apparently it is. That's how i got here writing this post right now cause I'd like to ask for advice on modding, required tools and maybe some knowledge of more experienced modders. (who would like to share their knowledge (i hope) ) I won't hide fact that I'm totally newbie with modding all i did was crashing the game so badly that my backup wasn't enough and i had to reinstall it. So in general we can say i don't know anything about modding (sadly). (I know that there is thread where some kind of guide is beeing created for people just like me but i don't think i really fit there cause i don't really know anything and can't spend a lot of time online)

Long story short I'd like to recreate natural sinking mechanics for v1.5 but to do that i need to know how to write mods, what tools i need, and as much advice about modding as i can get here. Of course if i succeed in my let's say quest I'll share fruits of my labor with you all to enjoy.

For anyone who can be angry on me for mistakes in spelling, grammar, wrong words use or punctuation I'm really sorry it isn't my native language and I'm not doing anything of that on purpose.

Supposedly the super-mods TMO and RFB include streamlined versions of natural sinking. So you don't have to re-create the wheel.
PS NSSM won't crash 1.5, but it will make some funny things happen
