TMO Deck Gun/AA Gun ammo types

Question - does TMO remove the option to select the ammo type for the deck gun and AA gun? Or am I confusing this with SH3 and SH4 never had this option?

I'm seeing, while on patrol, the AP and AA option for the AA gun and seeing the AP option for the deck gun but I can't figure out how to put AP on the boat.
