Game randomly closes

Hi. I purchased this game recently, I have the version where you have to go through 'uplay' to access the game.

For some strange reason, the game randomly closes and goes to the 'uplay' window for no apparent reason. I can play the game for an hour or more, and it will suddenly do this to me?

This usually happens at a key moment, I am in the process of hunting down the 5 AMC ships in the blockade of germany mission, and I have spotted a British Submarine, which I am dying to destroy!

My system is more than adequate to play the game:

Windows Vista 64bit
AMD Phenom II 965 x4 3.4ghz
8GB Ram
geforce gts 250 1GB graphics card
600w power supply

All drivers are up to date, and there are no hardware issues.

There is a problem with enemy subs in the stock game lead to ctd.

There is a fix for this. Download the Jonesoft Generic Mod Enabler, extract with 7zip and copy jsgme.exe and the other files to your game folder (where the sh5.exe is located). Run jsgme.exe, a folder called MODS will be created. Extract the fix to the MODS folder (MODS/fixname/data). Enable the fix using jsgme.exe. Maybe this will help with your issue.

Does the fix have to be enabled in a particular order re. other mods? What files does it modify? Does it need to have the career restarted?

IRC the fix will not conflict with other mods except these have the fix already integrated i.e. Multiple UIs by TDW, MaGUI and all the compilations out there.

What files does it modify?

AFAIR it corrects an error in the dsd files of the ai subs and adds missing sound files to hear the subs in hydrophone.

Does it need to have the career restarted?

I think no, not sure. The error occurs if an ai sub is in range and the player uses the hydrophone. In this case the game crashes to desktop, but only if no UI mod is enabled.
