Tigger Maru Torpedo Depths?
Hey, what is the most optimal depths to use when attacking taskforce battleships ? From battleship classes to merchant tanker classes the same question arises how do I determine my torpedo depth in Calm waters, Rainy seas, and heavy storms?

Personally I don't see the advantage in TMO to using anything other than relatively shallow setting with impact pistols. 4-6 feet or so is what I tend to use. For magnetic, I think the common wisdom is to set it to exactly the keel depth of the target.
In rough seas the torpedo may broach when set shallow, but I've not seen it cause the torpedo to lose it's track, but perhaps it might make it easier for the AI to spot it, but my experience is it makes no difference. Deeper settings would be preferable I think if the sinking mechanics were handled differently, and might be dependent on which other mods you use. But for me, shallow is the best.

What determines your depth is this little thing called a book. We would read them in the Navy and they would classify each ship ... now get this ... with its draft. How about that ... draft depth was written down for us all we had to do was read it.

Bonjour,
I had a little trouble understanding you because of my poor English. That said, I see that on subsim all members are gentlemen then there is no need to get angry. First ask yourself if your question was well put. To answer your original question, when you lock a target, the depth of the torpedo automatically adjusts one meter above the keel, and TriggerMaru does not change that. But ... since there is a but, if you play with "duds torpedoes" activated, depending on the date of your patrol (usually until June 1943) you will have a high percentage of failures, up to 70 or 90 %. There are several drawbacks:
Apart from this, in theory, the wave amplitude can have a significant impact on the depth of transit of the torpedo. However, I am not convinced that anyone can speak with certainty and precision. Theory is one thing, how is it modeled in the game is another. Some argue that the torpedoes fired 1 meter under the keel with the magnetic detonator are more effective. I play SH4 since 2007 and I could not verify this doctrine with certainty. Almost all ships (except Yamato) have a weak point. It seems more reliable target this point. I hope I have answered as best as possible, unless your question has another meaning. Regards. Gibus

Is grouped under the name "duds torpedoes" all of the dysfunctional American torpedoes reproduced in SH4 game. I give you below an overview of these defects knowing that MODs proposed by one, here and there can bring different values, one way or the other. But generally, these are just some adjustments. In what follows, the abbreviation stands for the percentage of misfire is "PoM" Mk-10 torpedo:
Mk-14 torpedo: Defects until June,1 1943
Mk-16 torpedo: No defect prohibitive. Mk-18 torpedo: Defects until June 1, 1943
Mk-23 torpedo: Defects until June 1, 1943
