Default Argentina and neturality?

So Im on my first patrol in a new campaign (IXB U-124 ) and I ran into 2 ships travaling together. on my last obsvertaion I look at the flags and notice there Argentine. I wasn't shure if Argintina was still netural or not so I sank both of them(better to ask for forgiveness than permission right?) As it turned out they where netural. But this begs the question. when did Argentina Join the Allies?

You don't say what supermod you're using, if any. If you use GWX there is a pulldown in the navigation map view that shows the change dates for every country.

Argentina was mostly sympathetic with Germany in WW2 because of the large number of German immigrants in the country and her rivalry with Britain. However, by spring of 1945 the war was practically over and the Allies seemed to dominate world politics and finally Argentina had to give in the pressure to join the Allies.

Sorry, my mistake. I haven't played in quite awhile, and the memory is the first thing to go. It may be in the F1 tab. It is certainly on page 95 of the GWX Manual. Argentina is Allied from 27 March to 14 August 1945. Before that they are neutral.

Steve, memort may well be the first thing to go, but in this case, yours is working fine! (BTW, I have forgotten what the second thing is....)

The "FLAGGEN" chart appears on the Attack Scope, Obs Scope, and UZO screens (F3, O, U) of GWX3.0. Just pull down on the FLAGGEN tab in the upper right corner to view it. This chart has illustrations of the naval and merchant ensigns of all countries represented in the game. Alongside the ensign image is a two-letter code, AX (=AXIS) and AL (=ALLIES). Below the code is a date range, indicating the date the country declared an affiliation and the date the affiliation was rescinded. If/when a country is not designated as AX or AL, then it was neutral during that period.

For example, looking at the entry Argentinien/Argentina, we see a pretty blue-and-white ensign and the legend (AL) 27/03/43-14/08/45. This tells us that Argentina was Allied from March 27, 1943 until the end of the war, and was neutral before that date.

The "FLAGGEN" chart is present in GWX3.0 as installed, with no mods present. If it is not present in your game, then you have installed a mod which removes it.

EDIT:

From Page 94 of the GWX3.0 Manual:

Quote:

Attack Periscope, Observation Periscope, and UZO view

You can pull down the stopwatch receiver and a flag recognition quick reference sheet from the upper left-hand corner of the Attack Periscope, Observation Periscope, and UZO views, as shown in Figure 90.

The location of the flag recognition quick reference sheet is shown in Figure 90. The sheet itself is shown in Figure 91, on Page 95.
