Default New SH5 Player and Steam

Quick question, do any of the popular mods work with the Steam version?

Also, is the current steam version 1.2? I can't seem to find that or my google fu is bad. :\

For the most part your screwed. Sorry to say that but steam is the worst place to buy this game. Usually if you read the mod description it will say not compatible with steam. You can still mod your game just not to the extent you would be able to if you baught a dvd or amazon download. It's the way steam sets up there exe files that will prevent you from using some key mods.

For example you cannot use the generic patcher which would apply a ton of bug fixes to the game. Pretty sure you won't be able to use option file viewer either. Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Just check the description of each mod before you download.

All right, no worries. If I turn out loving this game so much, I'll just spring for the Amazon download.

Any ideas as to why Steam does this. Why not just sell the game as it is when you outright buy it? Is it some license thing?

Always try and get the DVD version if you can.

The custom install will allow you to select the German Language for the crew, but you will still see English text in the message box.

This saves you having to mod it.

What is the point of a German U-Boat with an English speaking crew?

Just does not sound right.

Why exactly cant you mod the steam version? I am interested to know.

I use the steam SH3 modded.

I thought I would of been fine unless you update it or re verify the files. which you can set it not too.

You can basically use any mod with 'Steam.'

Steam' does not allow you access to 'TDW's Generic File Patcher' where the bugs, game fixes and his game play options are.
