Help for installing SH3

I have the SH 3 DVD and have followed faithfully the steps to allow it to play on my Win 7 os, but I still am plagued by the error message that I cannot play this game because it is not one of the following operating system (windows Xp, 98, 2000 etc).

I have run the Starforce detection tool and looked for hidden files and it indicates that not starforce files can be found. Is the ability to play SH3 on the Win 7 os related to the 1.4b patch or the Starforce protection system removal? Have there been any Win 7 updates that won't allow the program to be played...the directions I viewed were from 2009?

Thanks for any help...if you have a better source for finding the correct steps to allow the DVD game to be played, please pass them along.

No there have not. I play it on Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit.
