Default Manual targeting methods?

I've been playing Silent Hunter IV and have found great success with the Dick O'Kane method of attack and was wondering how I could do something similar with the SH3+GWX

Not that I'm any good at it myself, but as I understand it should work perfectly well with SH3.

It seems to me that manual targeting is just a specialized subset of calculating intercept courses. Whether you calculate a good intercept course for your ship cruising at 12 knots or for a torpedo traveling a good deal faster you will get the job done if, at the end your boat (or the torpedo) slams into the hull of the ship it's up against. The difference is that "good enough" is fine for a ship because once you get close you'll get a visual or a good sonar contact. However good enough needs to be much more precise for a torpedo.
