So last weekend I finally picked up a Blue Ray player, and needed a movie to try it out with so I picked up Raiders of the Lost Ark.
My kids had never seen it. We got to the submarine scene and I was annoyed that Indie was supposed to make the trip hanging out on the deck of the uboat. There was no watch crew on the bridge! And several of the cut scenes were below decks looking through a periscope, so presumably the sub had submerged. What was indie doing all this time? Did he lasso the periscope with his whip and he waterskied barefoot behind the boat? ![]() Steve |

And in the director's commentary track on the 'das boot' movie, they explain that the Uboat in raiders is in fact U-96.
Steven Spielberg stole the sub in an unguarded moment and used it for the sub scenes in his own film. At least he gave it back... |

That question has been asked and discussed ad infinitum over the last thirty years. Quote:

I would not like to be on the crew who was not told, and come into work that morning... |

What I don't understand about Raiders of the Lost Ark is that even if Jones wasn't involved, the movie would have the same ending; Nazis open the Ark and get killed. Indy didn't actually change any of the consequences.

Well, it was a tribute to the old adventure movie serials from the 1930s, and makes about as much sense as they did. In other words, you're supposed to have fun with it, not think about it. You can actually see where each cliffhanger ending would be, every fifteen minutes or so.
