From what i've read it seems that the hard part is the interiors. Why not go the SH3 and SH4 route and just use the regular U-Boat interior? All you'd have to do is extended the ladders in the conning tower up to the height of the bridge. Sure walking around an authentic BB interior would be fun but that's not the point of a BB mod is it?

Hi Admiral Halsey,
before we start working on a battleship convertion of SH5, we should first import in game new AI units. Creating thems would be by far easier (and much more compelling in my opinion) than tweaking SH5 into a battleship simulation. Thanks to the great efforts done by TDW on his GR2 Editor, the former goal is already within our reach. Nonetheless, due to the many unks of the granny format, working with GR2 Editor can be very tedious (files gets corrupt at times, with loss of hours -if not days- of work, and several tasks wich are done in a few clicks on dat objects, are not yet possible with GR2 objects). This maybe explains why, using an euphemism, I haven't seen that many persons working on new GR2 units so far, and it is a likely reason for modders keeping away from more ambitious projects, like the one you are proposing. One thing I know for sure: if people started messing with GR2 Editor, sharing their achievements and even the drawbacks they would probably meet, we could build-up a better knowledge-base, modders would be motivated by the competition, and TDW's work on the editor would go faster. ![]() My two cents ![]() |
