Default Recommendations for modern subsim

Im a silent hunter veteran ive played most of them since sh1 but I fancy trying a los angeles class rather than a gato class or type ix. Which is the best one to run with these specs
Intel pentium 4 2.8ghz dual core
2gb ram
1gb gpu
Windows xp sp3
Its playing sh3 well but its old I know any suggestions guys?

Well, Dangerous Waters (or its predecessor Sub Command) is your only choice, really. There simply hasn't been any modern sims since. They're far behind SH3 graphically and don't have the same kind of campaign, but as far as realism and systems detail - pretty outstanding. You will have no trouble with them on your specs.

Modern sub sims tend to be a bit of a different ball game than WWII ones, because submarine warfare has changed pretty dramatically, so be prepared for that. There's no dynamic campaign or crew management or upgrades - it's mostly a sim about interesting single missions. There's no real need for pretty graphics, as you'll spend almost all your time reading sensor displays in order to build up a situational awareness picture and a workable firing solution. Unlike SH, where being detected means an exciting cat-and-mouse game with exploding depth charges all around your sub, being detected as a sub in Dangerous Waters/Sub Command almost always means you're instantly dead. It's not nearly as visceral of a game as Silent Hunter, but on the upside it's very rewaring if you like working with complex sensors, making educated guesses, and taking intelligent risks.

Thankyou im going to order it via subsim on payday I watched what some folks would say is a mediocre film called the Hunt for Red October and fancied moving onto modern subs after that. I thought the film was entertaining despite the dodgy russian accents lol
